QCSO PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL FOOD DRIVE

The League of American Orchestras first joined forces with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization in 2009. Over the years, Orchestras Feeding America has seen over 360 orchestras from across the country collect and donate nearly 500,000 pounds of food.

Did you know that 13,390 Quad City area children do not have access to a sufficient quantity of affordable nutritious food? In the month of March, we teamed up with River Bend Foodbank to raise funds, collect food donations, and volunteer towards the goal of ending hunger in the Quad Cities!

On March 3, a large group from the gathered at the River Bend Foodbank warehouse to volunteer for their Backpack Program. This backpack program provides offsite partners with bags of food for children to discreetly be sent home in their backpacks to sustain them through the weekend.

Among the volunteer efforts organized, we asked our patrons and community partners to contribute monetary food donations toward the cause. To date, our efforts provided the Quad Cities community with over 2,900 meals.
