QCSO Group Lesson Programs

The QCSO is dedicated to inspire, entertain, and engage the Quad City community through superb music education. The QCSO collaborates with three community partners to provide after school violin and cello group lessons to area students with access to new instruments and quality instruction.

Boys and Girls Club Cello + Violin Program

In 2017, the QCSO and the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley (BGCMV) launched a new initiative aimed at creating access to music education for members of the Davenport and Moline Boys and Girls Clubs. Aligned with the mission of the BGCMV to “enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens” the Boys and Girls Club Cello and Violin Program gives members the opportunity to receive twice-weekly group cello and violin lessons from QCSO Cellist, Elisabeth Oar, QCSO Teaching Artist, Kim Busic, and Instructor, Paula Hartmann. Students who are accepted to this program are given a new, appropriately sized cello and violin, and all of the accessories needed to engage in music study.

Spring Forward Learning Violin Club

In 2021, the QCSO and Spring Forward Learning began hosting an after school violin group lesson class for second and third grade students at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. The Violin Club gives members the opportunity to receive group violin lessons led by QCSO Teaching Artist, Kim Busic. Students who are accepted to this program are given a new, appropriately sized violin, and all of the accessories needed to engage in music study.

Second Baptist Church Outreach Music and Arts Academy

In 2022, the QCSO and SBC Outreach Music + Arts Academy began hosting an after school violin group lesson class for students in the academy. The Violin Club gives members the opportunity to receive group violin lessons led by QCSO Teaching Artist, Kim Busic.
