Grab your friends and family and join the Volunteers for Symphony (VfS) on November 10th for a fun night of trivia to benefit the Music Education Programs of the Quad City Symphony! This year’s event will be held at the Eldridge Community Center in Eldridge, Iowa.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and Trivia begins at 7:00 p.m.

“It is truly going to be fun and I’m so honored to be part of the Volunteers for Symphony family, supporting the wonderful music education in our community by our amazing QCSO musicians,” said Event Co-Chair Misty Miller.  “Music Inspires us to live and no one portrays that better than our very own symphony.”

Up to 25 teams will compete in 10 rounds of general knowledge Trivia Questions, and there’s still time to throw your hat in the ring! Participation is $15 per player or $100 per team of eight, and you can easily register online via the QCSO website.  Team cost includes 10 mulligans and 1 Double Down.  Prizes will be awarded to teams who end in 1st ($80), 2nd ($40), and 3rd ($20) place overall.

When forming your team keep in mind that there are ten different categories of questions, so be sure to have a diverse group of people with a wide variety of knowledge. While the categories are currently top secret, Event Co-Chair Darlene Link provided a couple of hints. “Some questions are music related, with at least one category based on the QCSO’s current season, and teams may want to brush up on their Quad Cities Trivia.”

Coming up with 100 different questions while maintaining the perfect balance between challenging and fun requires a team of volunteers.  This year’s questions were compiled by QCSO Director of Education & Community Engagement Marc Zyla, VfS Members George Hesse, Don Mitchem, and David Link, and Event Co-Chairs Misty Miller and Darlene Link.  Guiding you through the questions this year are VfS Co-Presidents Dave & Julie Scott.

In addition to testing your team’s knowledge, team members can compete in the Costume Contest and bid on the fantastic array of Silent Auction items.  Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite musical inspiration.  The guest deemed “Best Dressed” will receive a gift certificate.

“For this year’s Silent Auction, we have something unique,” said Link.  “We have created 12 gift baskets with purses in addition to several themed baskets including a Fall and a Christmas basket.”  Other items included are gift certificates, wine, homemade caramels, and items from the Figge Art Museum Gift Shop.  If you are unable to attend Trivia Night but would like to support the event, VfS is still accepting donations for the auction.

Trivia Team members are encouraged to bring food to share with their table, and while no outside beverages are allowed, you can purchase your favorite drink from the full bar.  “You will want to come and enjoy the camaraderie and have lots of fun all while supporting an outstanding Symphony!” said Link.
