The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) is proud to announce two blockbuster Films in Concert events for the 2026–27 QCSO at the Movies Season, bringing beloved films to life with the power of a full symphony orchestra. Audiences will experience Disney’s The Lion King and the holiday classic Elf like never before, with their iconic scores performed live to the film on the big screen at the Alder Theatre.
Disney’s The Lion King in Concert

The Quad City Symphony Orchestra will present Disney’s The Lion King Live in Concert, featuring Hans Zimmer’s Oscar®-winning score performed live to the film. The unforgettable soundtrack also includes music by Elton John and Tim Rice, with African vocal and choir arrangements by GRAMMY®-winning South African composer Lebo M.
Audiences will relive Simba’s epic journey across the African savanna, accompanied by the voices of Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, and more.

Nobody spreads Christmas cheer quite like Buddy the Elf! This holiday season, CineConcerts and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences bring Elf in Concert to the Quad Cities, featuring the Quad City Symphony Orchestra performing John Debney’s heartwarming score live to picture on a 40-foot HD screen.
Directed by Jon Favreau and starring Will Ferrell, Elf has become a modern holiday classic. Composer John Debney notes, “Elf has really become a modern classic and bringing this into concert halls worldwide is an absolute honor. I very much look forward to presenting this unforgettable concert experience to live audiences worldwide.”
