Masterworks V: Brahms + Shostakovitch

March 6, 2021 @ 7:30 pm CST

Wagner’s militaristic Rienzi Overture provides a spirited opener to this program before the centerpiece of the concert, Brahms’s intimate and evocative Third Symphony, with its flowing rhythms and lush, soaring melodies. Virtuoso violinist Bella Hristova returns to the Quad Cities to close the program with Shostakovich’s boisterous and darkly comedic Violin Concerto No. 1.
