QCSO Group Lesson Programs
The QCSO is dedicated to inspire, entertain, and engage the Quad City community through superb music education. The QCSO collaborates with three community partners to provide after school violin group lessons to area students with access to new instruments and quality instruction.
Spring Forward Learning Violin Club
In 2021, the QCSO and Spring Forward Learning began hosting an after school violin group lesson class for second and third grade students at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. In 2024, a violin group class was added to Earl Hanson Elementary and another at Frances Willard Elementary in 2025. The Violin Club gives members the opportunity to receive group violin lessons led by QCSO Teaching Artist Kim Busic, Rock Island Orchestra teacher, Breann Laermans, and QCSO Private Lesson Instructor, Eugene Alfaro. Students who are accepted to this program are given a new, appropriately sized violin, and all of the accessories needed to engage in music study.
Martin Luther King Center
In 2024, the QCSO and MLK Center began hosting an after school violin group lesson class for students in the after school program. The Violin Club gives students the opportunity to receive group violin lessons led by QCSO Teaching Artist, Kim Busic. Students who are accepted to this program are given a new, appropriately sized violin, and all of the accessories needed to engage in music study.
Project Now Violin Program
In 2025, the QCSO and Project Now began hosting an after school violin group lesson class for students in the after school program. The Violin Club gives students the opportunity to receive group violin lessons led by QCSO Private Lesson Instructor, Cathryn Cowell. Students who are accepted to this program are given a new, appropriately sized violin, and all of the accessories needed to engage in music study.
