QUAD CITY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ASSOCIATION

Board of Trustees Commitment to Serve

“The Mission of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra Association is to inspire, entertain,
and engage the Quad City community through superb symphonic music, music education, and cultural leadership.”

  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
  • My role as member of the Board of Trustees of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra Association (QCSOA) is essential and I will assume the responsibilities of Trustee outlined below to the best of my abilities:

On-Boarding: I will participate in a Board Orientation within the first six months of my election to the Board.

Governance: I will attend and participate in at least 75% of the year’s full Board of Trustees meetings as my experience, expertise, and guidance are vital. I will also serve on and regularly attend meetings of at least one regular Board Committee each year [serving on a variety of committees is recommended to learn more about QCSOA operations].

Decision Making: I will be an informed Trustee and will come ready to actively participate in meetings and Board retreats. I will support decisions made by a majority of the Board and maintain the confidentiality of all information learned through my service.

Advocacy: I will advocate for QCSOA programs and activities throughout the community and will introduce new supporters to the QCSOA in a variety of ways, including bringing new audience members to concerts, making potential students aware of the Private Lessons Program and Youth Ensembles, and inviting new donor prospects to events such as the annual Soirée fundraiser. I will also encourage donations from individuals and institutions to the QCSOA through Annual Fund and sponsorship/grant-making opportunities.

Financial Support: I will show my commitment to the QCSOA by making a personally significant annual donation. Board donations to the QCSOA increase success when asking others to give and strengthen the QCSO’s grant prospects. I will also annually subscribe to at least one QCSOA season ticket series and participate in special events and fundraising activities of Volunteers for Symphony and the QCSOA.

Policy: Part of my role as Trustee is to consider, approve, and support management policies that promote the efficient management of the QCSOA. I will work through the appropriate Board channels if I believe policies are not being followed by management or have concerns about the operations of the Board.

Conflict of Interest: I will make the appropriate parties aware in advance of any potential conflicts of interest I may have and will abstain from discussion /voting regarding any issue(s) that relate to those interest(s).
