Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops August Ticket Sales Up

Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops Ticket Sales Up on New August Date
A Symphonic Tribute to The Eagles to be Featured

New QCSO Musician Collective Bargaining Agreement Signed in Advance of Event

New IATSE Stagehands Agreement also Completed

Earlier this year the Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) announced that this year’s popular Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops would change dates to Saturday, August 20.

The move was prompted by the unprecedented scheduling of a nighttime Iowa/Iowa State football game which would directly conflict with the event.  “We know much of our audience is Iowa/Iowa State fans,” said Benjamin Loeb, QCSO executive director, “so we decided to accommodate our audience desires and change the date to Saturday, August 20.  This should satisfy both fans of football and fans of the QCSO.”

“We weren’t sure what moving from the traditional date might have on ticket sales,” stated Brad Lewis, Director of Marketing, “but we’ve seen the highest early ticket sales pace for The Eagles Tribute with most of our advertising not yet even started.”

In advance of Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops the QCSO has successfully negotiated new collective bargaining agreements with the American Federation of Musicians Local 67 representing QCSO musicians and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 85, stagehands for QCSO performances.  Josh Johnson, Players Committee Chair, shared “union musicians of the QCSO unanimously voted to accept a new three year contract that provides pay increases each year…that forged a new path for the Orchestra’s future.”  Benjamin Loeb, QCSO Executive Director, commented, “having three years committed gives the QCSO stability and predictability in our expenses…I am proud of the collegial and respectful tone in all of the negotiations.”

The 2016 Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops will feature The Eagles Greatest Hits!  An outpouring of disbelief and fond remembrances of The Eagles songs occurred earlier this year with the passing of founding member Glenn Frey.  The QCSO selected The Eagles Greatest Hits as a tribute to his superb song making.  The show will feature a long list of their greatest hits including Take it to the Limit, Desperado and Hotel California.  As always, resounding versions of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever will be set to a brilliant fireworks display.

Tickets are available at www.qcso.org or at any Quad City Bank & Trust location.  Tickets are no longer available at Whitey’s or Hy-Vee.  The youth orchestra will perform a pre-show at 5:30 p.m.
