Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops to Change Dates
Event to Move from September to August
Iowa/Iowa State Night Football Game Prompts Move
The Eagles Greatest Hits Will Remain as Headliner
The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) announced today that this year’s popular Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops will change dates from Saturday, September 10 to Saturday, August 20.
The move was prompted by the unprecedented scheduling of a nighttime Iowa/Iowa State football game which would directly conflict with the event. “We’ve learned over the years that the Iowa/Iowa State game does affect our attendance,” said Benjamin Loeb, QCSO executive director, “so we decided to accommodate our audience desires and have made the date change to Saturday, August 20. This should satisfy both fans of football and fans of the QCSO.”
Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops will remain in the late summer time frame to capitalize on the great weather, picnicking and end of summer tradition. The QCSO recently completed a survey indicating that, while people like the early September dates, the second date choice was August.
The 2016 Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops will feature The Eagles Greatest Hits! An outpouring of disbelief and fond remembrances of The Eagles songs occurred earlier this year with the passing of founding member Glenn Frey. The QCSO selected The Eagles Greatest Hits as a tribute to his superb song making. The show will feature a long list of their greatest hits including Take it to the Limit, Desperado and Hotel California. As always, resounding versions of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever will be set to a brilliant fireworks display.
Tickets have been opened early – and are currently open - for online sales at www.qcso.org in recognition of the earlier Saturday, August 20 change in dates. The performance time will remain the same starting at 6:30 p.m. with the youth orchestra pre-show at 5:30 p.m. All previously sold subscriber tickets will be transferred to the new date.
Information, the complete program line-up and more details are available at www.qcso.org.
