Up Close with the Figge, Women in Music

March 25 @ 7:30 pm CDT

In honor of the Figge’s major exhibit Sporting Fashion: Outdoor Girls 1800 to 1960, join us for an evening at the museum celebrating women in music. The first half of the program will take place in the Winter Garden and feature works by J.S. Bach, Kaija Saariaho, Augusta Reed Thomas, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, and Rebecca Clarke. After intermission, join us in the lobby for string quartets by Jessie Montgomery and Amy Beach.

Please Note: Attendees should be prepared to stand for the first half in the Wintergarden [approx 30 minutes]. Seating for all patrons is available for the second half in the lobby.

In honor of the Figge’s major exhibit, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra presents a special program that explores its upcoming concert, Up Close with the Figge: Women in Music. Led by Hannah Holman (principal cellist), this program will explore and celebrate extraordinary women throughout musical history.
