Masterworks VI: Triumph

April 5, 2020 @ 2:00 pm CDT

Our triumphant conclusion to the Masterworks Season begins with Holst’s homage to Walt Whitman. Roberto Díaz returns to the Quad Cities to perform Jennifer Hidgon’s Grammy Award-winning Viola Concerto. This unrelenting and technically demanding showpiece was written specifically for Díaz. Experience the spirit of rural Americana in Copland’s Appalachian Spring, before we close the season with Respighi’s beloved Pines of Rome, which depicts four events witnessed by centuries-old trees in full orchestral color.
