Family Concert:  Dr. Seuss!

April 29, 2017 at 2:30 PM
Adler Theatre, Davenport

Dr. Seuss' classics Green Eggs and Ham and The Sneetches - featuring some of the best-loved stories and characters of all time - come musically to life!  Fantastical tales set to the full symphonic sounds of the QCSO are animated by on stage actors, video, and narration. There's plenty of merriment to capture the imagination of kids of all ages at this season's Family Concert.  Gather a group and join us for this whimsical journey!

The Sneetches tells a story of class and prejudice within a community of yellow, bird-like animals. The Star-Belly Sneetches must learn to accept the Plain-Belly Sneetches after a stranger with a bizarre machine visits their beach, and turns their world upside down.

Green Eggs and Ham  tells the story of a character known as "Sam-I-Am" who pesters an unnamed character to try a dish of green eggs and ham.  He refuses, responding, "I do not like green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-Am." He continues to repeat this as Sam follows him, encouraging him to eat them in eight locations all to which he refuses responding, "I do not like them here or there. I do not like them anywhere."  Finally, he gives in to Sam's pestering and samples the green eggs and ham, which he finds that he does like after all and happily responds, "I do so like green eggs and ham. Thank you. Thank you, Sam-I-Am."
