Masterworks VI:  St. Matthew Passion

April 8, 2017 at 7:30 PM
Adler Theatre, Davenport
April 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM
Centennial Hall, Rock Island

Please note that the Saturday evening performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. NOT 8:00 p.m.

In our Season Finale, we disembark from the river theme in one of Bach’s greatest masterpieces, the St. Matthew Passion, a work of depth and drama that expresses the power of sacrifice, metaphorically life’s journey. Two orchestras and two choirs evoke a dialog in the emotionally charged interactions of Jesus and the Evangelist.  Six vocal soloists, two organs, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, Quad City Choral Arts, and the Augustana Choir will amass on our concert stages.  To enhance the enjoyment and inspiration of all, St. Matthew Passion will be performed in English.  You will float from our season awestruck.
